This War saw the US gain much of the American Southwest, while allowing military leaders to gain lots of popularity that would eventually lead them to the White House. Ended with the treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo.

This President served from 1845-1849, and is known for having the most successful presidency ever, gaining territory in the Mexican-American War, in Oregon, etc.

This law in 1820 saw Missouri added as a slave state, while adding Maine as a free state to equal out representation in Congress.
