The Senate is two chambers/ houses in congress that function as a higher level of congress that represents states equally with only two senators from each state serving 6 year long terms. This is equal because it's not based on population as the House of Representatives is.
Why did the colonist write the declaration in the first place?
The Declaration of Independence was written because the colonists were being treated unfairly by King George and were being taxed so that Brittan could and pay for the expensive wars it fought. It saw the colonies as a source of profit, as they could provide materials for coffee, cotton, timber and places to grow crops.

The problems with the articles of confederation were that sense white men who owned property wrote it people thought that the Articles only helped/ defended white men who owned property. And the government had very little jurisdiction over the people.
