What are our recess expectations before we leave the school?

Line up quietly. Grab any jackets, yoyos, etc., before leaving the classroom. Do NOT bring food outside. Line up quickly and quietly.

What are the Bathroom Expectations?

Sign out, take the bathroom pass, sign in, return pass. Put your name on the "Waiting" list if it is full. DO NOT go to the bathroom during instruction time or math. Go to the bathroom during independent work time, snack time, lunch, and recess.

What does it look like to be an active listener? 

Sit quietly and upright in your chair (no slouching). Listen with your ears and your eyes. Do not blurt out or speak over the person talking.

What should Independent Work Time look like?

You should be focused on the task at hand. You shouldn't be talking to the people around you or be distracting in any way. Stay on task!

What is the expectation for the sharpener and dull pencils?

Dull pencils should be put in the bucket and a sharp pencils should be taken from the drawer. The sharpener is only to be used on colored pencils or if it is your job. DO NOT use the sharpener while the teacher is talking.

What should you do when the whistle blows outside?

Get in line right away!

What are our morning expectations?

Greet the teacher. Unpack. Read the instructions on the board. Write down your homework. Begin Morning Work as directed on the board. STAY ON TASK!

When is it okay to talk in class?

When we are having a discussion. When we are in partner or group work. When you are called on. During free time. When you are asking a question after you have been called on.

What if you have missing or incomplete work?

Make sure you copy down your Homework in your Planner. If you forget, copy off of someone else's planner. You can look at the homework doc at home to see what homework is due each night. Ask Ms. Greene what you might be missing! Check the missing work log. Complete and turn in missing or incomplete work.

When can you eat at school?

You can eat during snack and lunch. You are not allowed to eat at recess or Carline.

What are our expectations for the last recess of the day/Carline?

Get in line. Go to transitions if you need to. Stay with Ms. Greene. Sit down next to our area of the fence until called.

What are our math transition expectations?

Get your math supplies ready (all of them so you don't have to come back in the classroom!), wait patiently in line outside your math teacher's classroom. When returning, wait patiently and quietly outside of Ms. Greene's classroom. Get to work right away when you enter.

What should you do if you want to ask a question?

Raise your hand. Ask yourself first "Is this a good question for right now? Can I ask a friend first? Did I listen to the instructions? Do I understand the task?"

When Ms. Greene says you can!

How do we show respect to our classroom, classmates, and teachers in the classroom?

We keep our space tidy and clean. We put things back where we found them. We help each other keep the space clean. We consider the personal space of others. We use polite and kind language towards each other. We do not get physical or run around in the classroom in order to stay safe. We wait our turn to speak. We follow our class creed.

What happens if you earn a Pink sticky note?

You are expected to wait next the brick wall until Ms. Greene calls you to chat with her. if you forget, the consequence increases.

What do our clean up expectations look like at the end of the day?

Stack your chair. Check your mailbox. Take home your homework and literature folder, planner, and literature book. Clean the floor, especially around your desk. Grab your backpack and stand behind your desk to await dismissal.

What is in our classroom that can help with our learning?

Lots of things on the walls! Maps, timeline, posters, whiteboard. Look around for help first!

How do you know if you are finished?

Ask yourself these questions. Is your work complete? Did you follow all the instructions? Did you double-check your work? Did you do your best? Is your work neat and easy to understand? Are you proud of what you did? Is there anything you can do to improve your work?

What are our library/cozy corner expectations?

Put the book back where you found it. Put the book away nicely so it lasts for a long time. Put the pillows/blankets away nicely when you are done using them. Leave it nice for the next person who uses that space.
