Participating in Class Discussions
When talking in a group, I make comments and ask questions related to the topic being discussed.

Expected- the Teacher/group knows you are paying attention to the topic
I put my head down on my desk and do not participate or complete my work.

Unexpected- I should participate in the work or ask for a break
Helping a classmate do their work without them or a teacher asking me to.

Unexpected- I should focus on my own work until someone asks for my help.
Talking to others if it is not social time.
Unexpected- you may be asked to leave the classroom.
Interrupting someone in your class when they are taking to your teacher.

Unexpected - you should wait until they are done talking before you talk to them
I do not get distracted by what other students might do in class.

Expected- I should be worried about what I am doing not others
If my work gets hard, I raise my hand and wait for my someone to come help me.
Expected - I am waiting until there is someone who is not busy to help me. I am still doing my work. I am learning how to do something new.
Expected- You are ready for the next lesson and will not get nagged by the teacher.

Unexpected- You should stay on the topic that is already being talked about to show that you are listening.
I yell at a teacher or student if they say something I do not like.

Unexpected- others might be nervous, people do not like being yelled at. I can say my thoughts nicely or keep them in my head
Constantly asking the teacher if they need help and talking to them when they are doing work.

Unexpected- I should wait until I am asked to help. The teacher is doing work and is busy. I should wait to talk to them until they are done
Wandering around the classroom.
Unexpected- Others will be distracted and have strange thoughts about you because they have all learned to stay in their seats.

Unexpected- Everyone should get the chance to speak. I should wait until it is my turn.

Expected- I am being respectful to my teacher and my classmates
If you finish your work, do something else quietly at your desk like working on other homework or reading a book.
Expected- you will show the teacher that you are ready to be in more general education classes.
Ask your teacher what you can do when you've finished your work or when you have free time.
Expected- Teacher may praise you for following the rules.
When my classmate shares something that I don't agree with, I keep my thoughts in my head.

Expected- I should show the other person that I am listening to them and it is okay that we do not agree
I get distracted by the other students in class.

Unexpected- I should only worry about what I am doing. I cannot control what other people are doing. Someone will ask for my help if they want it.

Unexpected- the teacher won't be able to help you because you are not calm enough to listen.
