You want to know if bean plants will grow equally well if one is grown with coffee and the other is grown with water. You add 8 oz. of coffee to one bean plant and 4 oz. of water to the other bean plant. The Bean plant with coffee grew twice as tall as the plant with water. WHY DO WE NOT KNOW WHETHER OR NOT THE COFFEE HELPED THE BEAN PLANT GROW TALLER
Because we had two independent variables, we do not know whether or not the coffee made them grow better or having twice as much liquid made them grow better.
