I get in a boat in western Pennsylvania and travel down the Ohio River (the Gateway to the West).As I travel, I see Ohio to the north and this state known for horse racing to the south.

I get in a boat in Colorado and I end up traveling down the border of Texas and Mexico before I end up in the Gulf of Mexico. I traveled along this river of considerable size.

This Great Lake is the second largest of the five. It also shares a name with a Native tribe that sparked a friendship with Samuel de Champlain.

I get in a boat and I travel the length of the Missouri River. While I do this, I pass two states whose border with Missouri is formed by the river. One is Kansas and the other is this state, know for its corn production.

This explorer became the first European to explore the Mississippi River. His crew was so appreciative that they eventually ended his life (harsh).

This is the only Great Lake that does NOT have any shoreline in the state of Michigan (the other four all do). It is also the only one that shares a name with a Canadian province.
