How do you convert an improper fraction into a mixed number?
Divide the numerator by the denominator. The quotient is the whole number and the remainder is the numerator of the fraction.
How do you convert a mixed number to an improper fraction?
First you multiply the denominator by the whole number. You add the numerator to the product. The sum is the new numerator and the denominator stays the same.
Aiden has a yellow extension cord that is 9 and 5/12 feet long and an orange extension cord that is 8 and 1/12 feet long. If Aiden plugs one extension cord into the other, how far will the cords reach?
