100

The destruction of where animals live

What is Habitat Loss?

100

the largest level of organization, it includes all living and non-living components of the Earth, from the deepest oceans to the highest mountains.

What is Biosphere or the Earth?

100

The original source of energy in most ecosystems comes from

What is the sun?

100

the biome with the greatest biodiversity

What is the tropical rainforest?

100

the primary greenhouse gas released by human activities that affects the carbon cycle

What is Carbon Dioxide?

200

What is Climate Change?

200

all the living and non-living components in a specific area, such as a forest, desert, or lake.

What is an ecosystem?

200

can make their own food using sunlight in a process called photosynthesis

What is an autotroph?

What is a producer?

200

The specific climate along with the types of animals and plants found in the area

What is the characteristics of a Biome?

200

Oil, coal and gas that humans burn that releases CO2

What are fossil fuels?

300

an organism that causes ecological or economic harm in an area it is NOT native to

What is an Invasive Species?

300

all the different populations of different species that live in a specific area.

What is a community?

300

on organism rely on other organisms for their energy

What is a consumer?

300

The driest of all biomes because it receives little precipitation/rain. Plants here have to be able adapt and survive extreme dry conditions and have to collect AND store water and have shallow yet extensive roots. Animals that live here have adapted to the very dry conditions, such as the camel which store water in their bodies and don't sweat.

What is the Desert Biome?

300

How water moves on Earth through evaporation, condensation and precipation

What is the water cycle?

400

What is Overpopulation?

400

the individuals of the same species that live in a specific area.

What is a population?

400

show the flow of energy from producer to consumers using arrows.

What is a food web or food chain?

400

The summers are hot and dry but in the winter, temperatures stay around 30°F and are cool and moist allowing thickets of shrubs and small trees to grow. Many plants here have waxy leaves to retain moisture, as well as skinny leaves. Due to the type of vegetation in this biome, large grazing animals like elk and moose will be found here.

What is the Shrubland biome?

400

The decomposer responsible for putting nutrients, like nitrogen, back into the ecosystem

What is bacteria?

500

air, water and land are examples of this type of damage to the Earth

What is Pollution?

500

A herd of cattle

What is an example of a population?

500

The amount of energy that flows from trophic level to trophic level

What is the 10% rule?

500
Known for cold temperatures, animals like polar bears, arctic foxes and snow hares with little vegetation

What is the Tundra?

500

Breathing, factories and driving cars

What is ways that humans put carbon into the atmosphere?
