This activity is completed with the caretakers allowing the clinician to assist the family with identifying patterns of strengths and challenges that have occurred during past stages of development. What are team norms and expectations?
There are three of these that are considered requirements for fidelity, although, more are usually completed during the course of FCT AND these are the phases they are completed in.
What are MIGS AND Restructuring and Valuing Change?
These are the requirements to be an FCT Practitioner AND the amount of time allowed for the certification process.
Completion of Wheels of Change, 16 core skill demonstration-based checkoffs, submission of completion to the FCT Foundation. FCT Foundation requires certification to be completed within 12 months of start date in FCT Practice.
This phase of FCT focuses on strengthening the family's ability to maintain and take ownership of the changes they have made.
What is Valuing Change?
This core skill is used when the family is not able to address or effectively communicate “the elephant in the room”. This skill assists individuals have conversations that go beyond surface level to work on core, underlyingbehaviors.
What is Alter Ego?
This is who should be driving the team meeting and holding participants accountable.
Who are peers/teammates?
The number of times the Family Assessment Device (FAD) and Trauma Screener (CPM-PTS) should be completed during the course of Family Centered Treatment.

This is the most important administrative task for an FCT Practitioner.
What is TEAM?
During this phase, the practitioner and family begin changing interactional patterns and developing new ways of responding to problems.
What is Restructuring?
This core skill is implemented when the FCT practitioner has observed the family slipping back into their old ways, after they have been able to make the changes on their own without them in the home. While addressing this observation the FCT practitioner is asking open ended questions exploring what the family is willing to do in order to commit to the changes they previously made, in addition, the FCT practitioner is questioning the family’s resistance to continue treatment.
