What is the cure for Coivd?
Right now it is about prevention ( masks, social distancing, hand washing and sanitizing)
There are vaccines being tested.
Are we learning about the Titanic or the Revolutionary War?
No and No
How much time do we have to eat lunch when we are at home?
6th MOD ends at Noon. 8th MOD begins at 1:10. So, when you are at home you have 1 hour and 10 minutes to eat lunch and work on work.
What is the schedule for online?
MOD 1- 8:05
MOD 2- 8:45
MOD 3- 9:25
MOD 4- 10:05
MOD 5 - 10:45
MOD 6- 11:25
MOD 8- 1:10
When will school sports come back?
That depends on the sport and the busses.
Will we get less masks breaks as the year goes on?
Maybe. It may get harder as it gets colder. However, we will try to give them as long as it is safe to go outside.
What are the Bias Busters on the your wall?
These are things that we can say when and if someone says something that feels offensive or unkind.
Will we ever change how lunch works?
That is a tough question. As long as we are still Hybrid ( every other day in person) then we will continue to eat lunch this way.
How will we take tests online?
All tests will be done in an online format. We are trusting you to have integrity this year when you are taking your tests at home.
How do we check out a book at the library?
Go to Destiny library on the Linn Mar website. You can reserve books online through there and someone from the library will bring your book to your literacy class. If you are an online only student, you can check out ebooks from Destiny too.
Do we have to wear a mask in gym?
When you are outside and distant, no. When you inside and close, yes
Will we do Zoom breakout rooms in your class?
Yes. At some point we will try that.
Why don't we use trays and have multiple food options like last year?
We are trying to lower the spread of germs. The less we touch, the better.
How long will be do the online/hybrid schedule?
For sure until the end of quarter 1 in early November. If Covid numbers do not go down in Linn County, I imagine we will continue with this schedule.
Do the drinking fountains work?
No, you cannot you the actual fountains. They have been turned off. But the hydration statins are still working and you can fill up your water bottles there.
What happens to students who refuse to wear their mask correctly ( for example, not over their nose)
What happens if they simply forget a mask?
They will be asked several times by a teacher. If that does not work, they will speak to Mr. Axeen. If that does not work, they could be asked to change to all online learning.
Students can get masks in the office.
What is our first lesson/unit going to be about?
The worldwide water crisis. We will also look at global issues from the perceptive of the world and the United States
When can we use our lockers again?
We will start to use lockers when it is safe to be in close quarters with other people. We need Covid numbers to go down.
Can we change our mind to do all online or hybrid?
Yes, I believe at the end of each quarter you can change your learning choice.
Will there be online clubs?
Yes. I believe things will be starting online. Keep an eye and ear out for more information.
What if someone gets Covid in my classes?
They will be out of school for 14 days. We will contract trace and determine who was near that student for more than 15 minutes and then those people will quarantine at home too.
Are we ever going to write in our planner?
That is up to you! This is probably the most important year to use your planner. You will be on your own more that usual so writing things down is going to be very helpful. SO YES.... WRITE DOWN DUE DATES IN YOUR PLANNER :)
Why can't we eat snack in the classrooms
It is unsafe anytime people have their masks off inside of the school. We are trying to limit that. Please eat a good breakfast.
Do we turn the computers in at the end of the year and would we have gotten computers if Covid didn't happen?
YES and YES
Can I chew gum?
Sure! Just don't let me hear it or don't dispose of anywhere other than the garbage can.
