After a call takes place, will GLG send me a check?
After the call, our system will send you a reminder to invoice for your time. At that time, you can elect to be paid either via direct deposit or prepaid gift cards. Direct deposit typically takes 7-10 business days; pre-paid cards are for options such as Amazon, Visa, etc.
Who is your client/Will I know who I’m speaking with (blind client firm)?
Our client is a management consulting firm.
For this engagement, our client has chosen to remain anonymous to protect the integrity of their research and receive unbiased opinion/observations. They normally introduce themselves by name on the phone.
“I’m already working with a competitor or similar company to yours…”
Yes, we compete with others, but GLG is the market leader/industry pioneer
We have the deepest network and client base and therefore the most consulting opportunities.
“I don’t have time to chat right now…”
I completely understand. Just hoping for about ten minutes and I can provide a brief overview. What time later this afternoon would be best for your schedule?
Will the client know who I work for?
Yes, we share your name and employment history with our client to best match your background with their research needs and ensure no competitive conflicts.
Will I receive a 1099 tax form?
Yes. If you are a U.S. Citizen and are compensated more than $600 in a year.
Are there any other opportunities beyond phone calls?
Yes, a variety of in person and virtual events including webinars, surveys, roundtable discussions and private visits.
“I already have a job…I’m happy with my current employer…”
This is not an employment offer- It's a brief ad hoc consultation on the phone to share professional observations it's paid and we set up around your schedule (including outside of business hours) and you can set your hourly rate yourself. Payment is invoiced and then paid 7-10 days after call!
“I’m skeptical I’ve never heard of your company before…”
Totally fair, I know I’m contacting you out of the blue! I never heard of GLG before I worked here. But I was intrigued by the business model.
Can I participate in this project as a trial before enrolling?
Before speaking with clients, our consulting guidelines/ Terms and conditions must be completed.
What is my rate set at?
Paid at an hourly rate which you set yourself!
You can use our rate recommender tool, which compares your background to other professionals in our network and makes a recommendation that you can accept or adjust as you see fit.
How often will I be invited to projects?
Due to the nature of our Client’s work, there is no way to know when a particular topic may become popular – you may be called upon frequently to consult or it could be infrequent.
We’d appreciate having you as a resource to check in with on occasion whenever we see a potentially relevant request- participation is always at your discretion!
Why don’t your clients just reach out to me directly?
We have unparalleled resources, and handle all logistical items, so that they can focus entirely on their research.

Can I add GLG to my LinkedIn profile/resume?
Yes, as long as you keep it general and do not disclose any information about our clients and their research.
Can I bill this to my firm?
Yes, if you have the company's tax ID number. I can connect you with a colleague who can help set this up
How are the calls scheduled?
Based on mutual availability, you will receive a calendar invitation with all the details.
"I have a full-time job and I don’t have time for consulting work/I’m too busy..."
I understand! Just to clarify these are ad hoc opportunities which is suited around your schedule and would last between 30 and 60 minutes. Furthermore, there is no obligation if you receive an email, Accepting a project invitation is always at your discretion.
"I’m not an expert, I don’t think I’d be helpful..."
Client is unfamiliar with this industry – given your XYZ background, it's likely that you can provide high level insights. If you’re not the right fit for this specific engagement, we’d still love for you to join our Councils for future engagements
How did you get my name/find my information?
Can I donate my fees to charity?
Yes, we can distribute the equivalent of your hourly rate among the six charities we partner with.
Are these calls recorded?
Depends, for our client yes, but if the client would like to (for note taking purposes) we get your permission first!
Will this prevent me from consulting with my clients?
Consulting through GLG will not prevent you from working with any Clients you already have an existing relationship with.
If I set aside an hour to speak with your client, can I expect the call to happen? What is your cancellation policy?
By accepting this engagement, you are not confirmed to speak with a client. We will be in touch if a client wants to proceed with a phone call and we will schedule the call. On occasion, our clients will need to reschedule or cancel the call. We try our best to give 24 hours' notice of any rescheduling or cancellation
