What are some standards that you will be tested on (we have learned them throughout the year)? Give at least THREE examples.
-Central idea, text structure, author's purpose/perspective, author's claim, summary, context clues
-Literary elements, theme, POV, poetry, morphology, figurative language
Describe the difference between a firsthand account and a secondhand account? Be very specific.
Firsthand- someone was there to experience an event, and can tell the story from their personal POV. Includes thoughts, feelings, and accurate information and details.
Secondhand- Someone is telling the story from an outsider's perspective, they were not there to experience the event. Factual information is provided, but not always accurate.
Why might an author write a story in the form of a journal, speech, or personal experience?

This allows us to connect with the characters on a personal level, and allows us to learn about their thoughts and feelings. We can also get a lot more details from the characters when they are telling the story themselves.
