NOTE: Jacob was a good man and Rebekah was a good mom. Rebekah knew Esau had been making wrong choices. He had rejected the teachings of his parents by marrying a daughter of the Canaanites. The blessings would be wasted.

Lots family chose to live in Sodom and be amongst the wicked. We were rescued by the Lords servants before the city was destroyed as a result of the prayers of my uncle Abraham. We were warned not to look back but my wife's heart was still in Sodom. She couldn't resist the temptation and looked back and was turned to a pillar of salt. From this we learn to be in holy places, to not set our hearts on the world and to leave our sins in the past.

God has a view from the beginning to all eternity, he knows how all things can work for our good and the best way to bless and challenge us. Keeping that in mind can help us stay firm during life's challenges.

I am the son of Haran and the nephew of Abraham. Abraham got me and my family out of sticky situations more that once. I didn't always choose to be in the safest spiritual places.

The king was looking for a new queen and chose Esther. One of the kings servants Haman devised a plan for the Jews to be killed. Esther's cousin Mordecai wanted Esther to talk to the king and try to explain the situation. While she was very scared and her life was on the line she plead her case to the king and he made a new law to protect the Jews. From Esther we learn that we can rely on the Lord and take courage even in the most difficult circumstances.
