Definitions
This term is defined by the patient performing any appropriate activity associated with the patient's Current M.O.V.E. Level (or a higher M.O.V.E. Level).
What is the Highest M.O.V.E. Level (HML)?
This M.O.V.E. level is assigned when a patient can walk in the hallway (or distance equal to the hallway) with or without one helper's assistance.
What is M.O.V.E. Level 4?
This flowsheet row is documented with each episode of activity. The employee providing assistance or supervision of the patient should be the only one documenting this episode.
What is M.O.V.E. Activity Completed?
This device was designed by Stryker to promote early mobility and reduce risk factors for patients falling out of chairs.
What is the Seated Positioning System (SPS)?
A fall recovery air mattress system that holds up to 1,100 lbs. It comes in a rolling cart that can assist staff with safely moving patients from the floor to the bed height to be transferred to a bed or cart. It should be used with a lateral transfer device if the patient is unable to slide. Do not use bleach to clean!
What is the FloJac?
This term involves safe mobilization of hemodynamically complex patients through application of standardized inclusion/exclusion criteria with criteria for terminating activities.
What is Early Mobility?
This M.O.V.E. level will be assigned to patients when criteria for medical stability are not met.
What is M.O.V.E. Level 0?
This flowsheet row auto populates based on documented information from the CML and Activity Completed rows.
What is the Highest M.O.V.E. Level?
This device is used to safely mobilize or transfer patients with the assistance of staff using a buckle and strap wrapped around the patient's middle. It can be made of either cloth for single patient use, or a polyurethane-coating for multiple patient uses (cleaning in-between uses).
What is a gait belt?
Examples of this M.O.V.E. level include:
-Ambulated in room
-Stood at bedside or chair 2+ minutes
-Ambulated to bathroom
What is M.O.V.E. Level 3?
This term involves a progression from passive techniques, to assisted activities, and culminates with active mobility performed by the patient. This starts with in-bed movement, progressing to sitting and standing positions, and finally to walking.
What is Progressive Mobility?
This M.O.V.E. level includes in bed mobility; includes intubated, non-intubated hemodynamically stable, no contraindications.
What is M.O.V.E. Level 1?
This flowsheet row is documented only once within four (4) hours of admission. A read-only row will be visible in the Daily Cares / Safety flowsheet for reference.
What is Prior Level of Function?
This device created by ARJO is used to encourage patients to be active during sitting to standing transfers.
What is a Sera Stedy?
It is the nurse's responsibility to oversee that the patient receives this many episodes of the Highest M.O.V.E. Level per day.
What is three (3)?
This term is a rating of the patient's current ability to move in their environment. This level guides clinicians as they assist with mobility activities and interventions.
What is the Current M.O.V.E. Level?
This M.O.V.E. level is assigned when the patient can stand for 2 minutes, take steps to a chair, or walk in room with or without a device/assistance.
What is M.O.V.E. level 3?
This row describes how the patient tolerated the M.O.V.E. Activity completed. This row is to be documented along with each mobility episode.
What is Activity Response?
This device makes transfers over uneven surfaces a safe and simple procedure. The device can be made of either semi-rigid polyethylene or a vinyl sheet material similar to parachutes. The Medline Comfort Glide series is an example.
What is a slide board or transfer sheet?
Examples of this M.O.V.E. level include:
-Turned with assistance
-Bed in chair position/cardiac chair
What is M.O.V.E. Level 1?
This term is a self-rated function based on a patient's ability to move one in their home environment (1) week prior to hospitalization.
What is Prior Level of Function?
This M.O.V.E. level is assigned when the patient can sit on side of bed and hold leg(s) against gravity.
What is M.O.V.E. Level 2?
This flowsheet row is completed within four (4) hours of admission, once per shift with minimum of twice in a calendar day, when the patient's condition changes, or when the patient's level of care changes. The best way to assess a patient's mobility capability is through objective observations.
What is the Current M.O.V.E. Level?
This device holds a patient up over the bed in a sling attached to hooks and a motor. These devices usually have specific weight capacities but are extremely useful for complete bed changes and bed transfers for medically unstable patients.
