Some campers have a lot of energy at camp and love to stand on tables, benches, and chairs in the dining hall. This can be allowed, but only if campers are being very careful

Ummmm Actually, Campers are not allowed to climb on tables, nor benches, nor chairs, for health and safety reasons.

100

If a camper says they want to go for a walk and need some alone time, you can give them some space and let them go for a walk as long as they know they need to be back before the next activity

Ummmm Actually, campers can never be left alone at camp. We have a 3:1 ratio policy here at camp where there can be at least 2 adults with a camper, or at least one adult with 2 campers at a time.

Ireland is a country associated with Luck. This is why the country is associated with Leprechauns, Lucky Charms, and the Four Leaf Clover, it's national flower.

Ummm Actually, Ireland's national flower is the Shamrock, not the Four Leaf Clover

Flying Horse Farms has an incredible ropes course and zipline that all campers get the opportunity to take part in every week

Ummm Actually, Water Village campers are not able to take part in the Ropes course, but hopefully if they come back when they are old enough to be in the Fire or Mountain villages, or Ranger program, they will have the option to partake in the Ropes Course and Zipline

If a camper is feeling fatigued and is unable to walk any more, a counselor can carry a camper on their back or shoulders, as long as the remaining distance needed to travel is short enough.

Ummm Actually, campers should never be lifted or carried at camp. There are golf carts available if a camper needs to traverse camp
200

If a camper has a headache, a cabin counselor can give them some of their personal prescription medication

Ummm Actually, you should contact your cabin nurse or if they are unavailable, another member of the medical team. You should never administer any medication to a camper yourself.

Ireland is an island off the coast of mainland Europe. The population is around 5 million people. The size is comparable to that of Indiana and the national language of Ireland is English

Ummm Actually, the National language of Ireland is Irish

While at activities with campers, counselors are encouraged to join in and take part in the activities in order to bring hype and enthusiasm to activities, and if a camper chooses not to do an activity, they should be pushed to join in on the activity as much as possible

Ummm Actually, we can encourage campers to engage with an activity, but if they choose not to take part, we should not continue to push them if they do not want to join the activity.

300

If a camper is missing home, and they ask to call a family member, that can be arranged so long as the family member is available and ok with it.

Ummm Actually, if a camper misses home we can use a number of tactics to help support them, such as helping them write a letter home, help try recreate some activities they might do at home to make them feel better, or call in psychosocial team member to help support the camper in this time

300

If a camper falls and gets a small scratch and starts bleeding, you can find a first aid kit in every building that has useful things like a band-aid that you can administer to the camper, just make sure you tell your cabin nurse about it at some point before the end of the day

Ummm Actually, you should always communicate with the cabin nurse as soon as possible, or another member of the medical team if they are not readily available. They should not be finding out about any injuries much later after they happen

The island of Ireland comprises of Northern Ireland which is part of the United Kingdom and The Republic of Ireland which is part of the European Union. The capital of Northern Ireland is Belfast and the capital of the Republic of Ireland is Dublin. Both parts of Ireland use the Euro as it's currency

At Color O, we encourage all campers to get as messy as possible and we encourage them to get their counselors as messy as possible too.

Ummmm Actually, We encourage campers to make their own choice about how messy they want to get at Color O. We offer Low Mess, and No Mess stations at Color O so that campers can still take part in the activity without getting super messy
400

Cabin Chat is an activity that ideally takes place every night before campers go to sleep. We ask them some questions and encourage them to share their thoughts and feelings with the rest of the cabin. The questions asked are about camp and are generally used to open up serious conversations.

Ummmm Actually Cabin chat Questions don't need to be about camp or about serious topics at all! You can ask "What two animals would you combine?", or "If you could fill a swimming pool with anything, what would you chose?" Questions can be silly or serious depending on the situation

Counselors should never give their phone number to a camper, but if a counselor is comfortable giving their social media to a camper to follow, then that is acceptable

Ummmm Actually, counselors are not allowed to give their phone number or any social media or contact information to a camper. If a camper wants to contact their counselor, they can send a message to the Flying Horse Farms email and that message can be passed on to the counselor, but counselors cannot and should not attempt to contact a camper outside of camp

Ireland has an unusual political structure where it is the only country that has a President and a Prime Minister

At the end of the week, there will be a closing campfire where we wrap up the events of the week. Each cabin will participate in this closing campfire where they can dress up and perform in a single skit or performance of their choosing which will be vetted by the cabin counselors and the entertainment team

Ummm Actually, the closing campfire performance is encouraged to be a single act, but if another camper or campers want to do another performance that is allowed too. Similarly, if the cabin does not wish to perform at closing campfire then that is totally fine too, but we would love to see them perform if they wish to.

If a camper is having negative interactions with other campers in their cabin, such as name calling, or difficulties sharing with others, then counselors can best support all campers in the cabin by having these campers be separated at the meal tables, activities, and in the cabins as best as possible.

Ummm Actually, campers should be encouraged to engage in more positive interactions with their fellow cabin mates. Separating campers within the cabin spaces would be too hard to manage and can often make the camper interactions worse. Redirection tactics can also work well to get campers back to engaging in positive behaviors

Camp is a beautiful place and it is totally understandable that counselors may want to take photos around camp. We encourage people at camp to take photos of each other and with campers and post on social media to spread the message of camp

Ummm Actually, we should not be taking photos of campers and posting to social media. While we love people spreading the message of camp, we cannot post any photos of campers on social media. However the Flying Horse Farms social media pages have pictures of campers that are approved to be shared so we encourage you to share those posts on your social media
