What is a Simile?
Comparing two thoughts or actions with like or as.
What is a metaphor?
To compare two thoughts or actions without like or as.
What is hyperbole?
An exaggeration in a sentence.
Example: "I felt like had been cleaning for 100 hours."
Is this phrase a simile? True or False "The dog looks like a wolf, it was so big!"

Is this a metaphor? True or False. "I am a speeding car."
True. You are calling yourself "fast".
Is this hyperbole? True or False.
"My bag had to have weighed at least 300 pounds!"

False, the statement is not a metaphor, it has "like" in it.

Explain why this is not a simile. "He was casting his fishing line as a bird was bird was flying by."
Because as is not comparing two thoughts or actions in the sentence. "He was casting his fishing line" is not being compared to "a bird was flying by."

False. they're the same thing.

Example why: The phrase "pass out" is a serious word but yet not to dark for school. This is why it most exaggerates the sentence.

"He was running like a fast cheetah."
Explanation: "He was running as a fast cheetah." If he was running as a cheetah it would not be comparing him to the cheetah. It would be stating he is the cheetah.
