Means that something is not clear at all/is confusing

Means that Annie likes to stay up late, just like owls are up late into the night.

Means that someone is very sweet or a kind person.
The classroom was a zoo.
Zoos are usually noisy and chaotic, so this means that the classroom was very noisy and loud, like a zoo.

Sarah sings like an angel.
Means that Sarah sings beautifully
Woody and Buzz are two peas in a pod- they do everything together and have so much fun.
"Two peas in a pod" means that they are best friends and are hard to separate.

Means that you should try not to get too upset over things that aren't a big deal- like spilling milk.

Where a horse might live; refers to something or someone that is steady/balanced
Johnny is as bright as the Sun- he always gets good grades.
Means that Johnny is very smart- "bright" can also mean smart, and the sun is very bright!

This means that Ben is very angry and is having a hard time containing his emotions.
Natalie is about to go on stage to be the star of the school play. Her best friend tells her, "Break a leg!!" What on earth does she mean?
"Break a leg" means good luck!

Something that shines (from a lamp, the Sun, etc.); refers to something that is not heavy
Betsy moved as fast as lightning when her dad called her down for dinner- she was hungry!
The wind was a whisper through the trees.
Means that the wind blew softly and gently through the trees, just like a whisper is soft.
Jenny was working on homework, but then got tired and realized it was getting late. "I'm gonna call it a day," she said. What does she mean?
"Call it a day" means to stop working on something, especially if you're getting worn out or tired.
