In Chapters 20-23 of Dracula, Renfield welcomes Dracula into the asylum, believing the vampire will grant him eternal life. However, when he realizes Mina is in danger, Renfield turns on Dracula. Enraged by the betrayal, Dracula bites and drains Renfield, leaving him unconscious but alive long enough to warn others before escaping into the night.

Revision: Dracula kills Renfield outright, not biting or draining him. He literally kills Renfield.
