A person, who has little visual perception, sees a stimulus and later recalls that they didn’t see anything.
What do you think has more of an effect on someone's personality? Nature or Nurture.
I think Nurture has more of an effect on someone's overall personality because that is what the person learns over time. People naturally want to be like the people around them which is why nurture is such a big deal. When those around someone start doing a certain thing like wearing bright clothes, usually that person will want to follow them and do the same. This is why I think nurture forms personality more that nature.
Why is psychology important in today's world?
Psychology plays an important role in today's world for many reasons. First of all, it helps us find out why people are acting a certain way and how to fix it. Psychology can help others to make better decisions and improve their mental health. Finally, psychology can help us to fix problems that happened in the past and predict when they will reoccur.
What is operant conditioning and give one example of it.
Operant conditioning is the behavior that is emitted to receive and punishment or reward. An example of operant conditioning would be giving rewards for doing a certain task like sitting or laying down for a dog. These rewards give positive reinforcement to the animal performing the tasks which teaches them to perform them again.
What is CTE and how does it affect your brain?
CTE is a degenerative brain disease that affects many different athletes. CTE happens when you have to many hits on the brain. It affects football players, military verterans, boxers, soccer players, and ice hockey players. The brain has blood vessels that go through it. With that being said there is a part of CTE that is called Tau that collects in these tiny blood vessels in the brain. It also has an impact on the nerve cells in the brain.
What are Subliminal Messages and Priming?
This is when a subliminal message is shown and are processed (or not processed) in the unconscious. Although many people fear and believe that subliminal messaging can be used to alter their beliefs and ideas, this is not true. Studies done with smaller subliminal messages have shown a very short time period after “seeing” the word or image, where the participant was likely influenced by the subliminal message. Simply, all this means is that the unconscious mind can only be affected by small, harmless subliminals. Priming is a term used to describe the effect of showing an object or word within correlation of a following image or word. The effect is that the person responds to the correlating item.
