What is racism?
unequal power relationship between groups on the basis of race that is produced, reproduced, and reflected in every major social institution
How does the video, A Class Divided, showcase the social construction of race?
By constructing inferior + superior values according to eyes as an example or the values associated with race, thus constructing a story, supporting that story by giving the superior eyes privileges and denying access to those that are inferior, and handing out consequences when going against the established rules.
According to McIntosh, what does privilege confer? What does it not confer?
Privilege confers power, it does not confer moral strength.
How does meritocracy relate to privilege?
To acknowledge white privilege, or privilege of any kind, you have to acknowledge that you did nothing to deserve the benefits that you received.
