Writing and Analysis: How does engaging with primary sources enhance your understanding of historical events and perspectives, and what are some of the challenges you encounter when analyzing these original documents?

    • Primary sources allow for us to directly see what was happening in the time period.

      • More emotion invoking,

      • Less opportunity for bias

      • Lets you see through their eyes, step into their shoes for a moment.

      • We can see how people thought and felt during that time period.

    • It is hard though because it only provides one perspective but does not always give you the background information behind it.

      • Some sources are also fogged by perspective ex: John Smith’s execution attempt or ritual.

    • Some are also hard to find! Lots of history has been buried away or lost forever.
