What is FAFSA?
To apply for federal student aid, such as federal grants, work-study, and loans, you need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid(FAFSA). True! You must have satisfactory academic progress(SAP) in order to be eligible for the grant. This includes having at least a 67% completion rate and at least a 2.0 GPA.
How do I check the status of my FAFSA form?
To check the status of you FAFSA form, select "Log In" on the online FAFSA home page to log in. You can find your application status on the "My FAFSA" page, which displays after you log in and if you have already started or completed a FAFSA form.
When is a good time to start looking at financial aid?
Anytime! The sooner the better! That way if something goes wrong or gets messed up, you have time to fix it!
How often do you get paid for work-study?
Work-study positions get paid monthly.
How many children will the grant cover?
The NC Child Care Grant will cover up to two children between the ages of 0-5(daycare) and 5-12(aftercare).

Can my refund check be picked up at the school? Does Sandhills offer direct deposit?
No! Sandhills can not hold checks or deposit finds into a bank account, all checks are mailed to the address on file with admissions.

In order to meet eligibility requirements for the work-study program, you only need to take 6 credit hours in a program of study that is eligible for financial aid.
How much does the NC Child Care Grant pay?
The NC Child Care Grant will pay up to $150 per week per child, although they will only pay up to the amount you are paying in child care if the amount is less than $150.
How do I correct my FAFSA form?
To make corrections to your FAFSA form, select "Log In" on the home page and log in to the online FAFSA form. Then, select "Make Corrections."
My self-service account is showing a negative balance, do I owe this money to the school?
No! A negative balance in your self-service account means you are due for a refund, the school owes YOU money!
What tax period do you use on FAFSA?
Tax period from 2 years prior, for example, the 2023-24 FAFSA form will rely on tax information from 2021.
