The form all students who want to receive financial aid must fill out. It is administered through the federal government and it determines how much federal and institutional aid a student will receive. Students must fill it out every year while they're in college.
What is the FAFSA
Money borrowed by a student from the government or private lender in order to support the cost of college. Interest is accrued until the student repays the amount.
What is loan
The cost or charge of taking classes in college; the price for instruction/teaching.
What is tuition
The office on campus that is responsible for putting together student's award letters that contain the amount of grants, scholarships, and loans they are receiving.
What is the financial aid office
This form is only required by some private universities. It is administered by the College Board and asks extensively about a student and their family's financial situation.
What is the CSS Profile
Money awarded to students by colleges or companies to students based on merit - either for their academic performance or talent.

The cost or charge for living on campus.

The office on campus that recruits new students and reviews their applications.
What is the admissions office
After being accepted, students receive this letter that informs them how much financial aid they are receiving from the college. It typically includes an offer of loans, grants, scholarships, and work study.
What is a Financial Aid Award Letter
Money awarded to students based on need. It does not need to be paid back. It is free money given by colleges or the government.
What is grant
The cost or charge for a campus meal/dining plan.
What is board
The office that connects students to on-campus jobs so they can earn this type of money offered to them in their financial aid package.
What is the work study office
These financial aid forms are required by some colleges. They are used to collect additional financial information from the FAFSA.

Money that students have to work for. Colleges will have campus jobs so students can earn this money.
What is work study
The cost or charge for receiving healthcare while the student is in college. It is required that all students have some type of healthcare coverage.
What is health insurance fee
The office on campus that provides professional and career support for students. They can help with resumes and cover letters. They also connect students to jobs, internships, fellowships, and other opportunities.
What is the career center
A legal document which students complete that promises they will repay any loan(s) and accrued interest to the U.S. Department of Education. It also explains the terms and conditions of the loan(s).
What is a Mastery Promissory Note
The amount of money a family is determined to pay towards their student's education. It is determined by completing financial aid forms like the FAFSA.
What is family contribution
The sum of many different costs or charges for services students receive at the college. It includes fees for things like computing, printing, orientation, etc.
What is comprehensive fee
The office on campus that manages billing, collecting, and refunds. They inform students when tuition bills are due and help them make payment.
