AT BSMCON returning student are encouraged to file the FAFSA by April 30th, New Fall students by July 1st, and New Spring students by November 1st. TIP: When filing the FAFSA it is recommended that you use the IRS Data Retrieval tool to enter all financial income data.

Why am I receiving a financial aid refund?

The first step is the completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) electronically (FAFSA on the Web) at www.fafsa.gov . Filing the FAFSA requires a Personal Identification Number (PIN) from ED, which can be accessed online at www.pin.gov. You must include BSMCON's school code on the FAFSA; if you do not include our school code, we will not receive your application. Bon Secours Memorial College of Nursing's school code is 010043. You must also apply once every school year (usually after you file your yearly income tax forms).

Financial Aid is disbursed the 3rd week of every semester with financial aid refunds occurring within 14 days from when the credit balance occurred. Financial refunds occur during the 4th/5th weeks of every semester.

If your FAFSA is selected for verification, and you did not use the IRS Data Retrieval option or you changed the IRS data, you will need to complete the following on-line process: • Go to www.irs.gov. Look under the heading “TOOLS” and select the following: • Click Order a Return or Account Transcript • Click “Go to Order a Transcript” • Enter your SSN, Date of Birth, Street Address, and Zip Code • Click Continue • Click on the drop down box for “Type of Transcript” and Select “Return Transcript” or “Account Transcript” • Click on the drop down box for “Transcript Year” and Select 2012 • Click Continue Your transcript will be mailed to you within 5 to 10 business days.

In most cases (exception - Pell Grant) students must be enrolled in 6 credits to qualify for financial aid. Student may ONLY recieve financial aid for courses that are within and approvaled for their cirriculum. I have completed all requirements up to my current level and am enrolled in 3 credits. I review my completed courses which I earned a grade of B or below and if I have NOT already repeated this course decide which course I want to repeat and enroll. This now gives me 6 credits and I qualify for financial aid.

Student Loans cannot be included in this particular legal process. You will always owe them.
Are student loans covered if I declare bankruptcy?

The "Home" School. If you are attending more than one college your financial aid awards are awarded and disbursed through the college where you are earning your degree. You are responsible for ensuring that the college(s) were you are not earning your degree do not award and/or disburse any financial aid to you. You will also need to make sure their tuition/fees are paid-in-full by their due date and then be reimbursed for these expenses with your financial aid refund. If these courses at other colleges are part of your cirriculum these credits will be added to your BSMCON credits and used to determine your financial aid awards. TIPS: ALL Curriculum Courses must be entered into SONIS to be used to determine financial aid eligibility.
