Where are the Fortune Cookies originally from?

It originated from Japan!

While many thought that the Fortune Cookie originated from China or Chinese culture, its origins can actually be traced back to confectionary shops in Kyoto as far back as 1870! They used to be called "tsujiura senbei" (辻占煎餅), or "fortune rice crackers"! They were darker, larger and savoury instead of the lightly coloured sweet cookie we know today!

Where are the Croissants originally from?

It originated from France!

Across various accounts of croissant history, most sources agree that it originates from Austria as the kipferl. Made from a yeasted wheat dough, the kipferl is a baked bread roll common in Central Europe. Records state that the kipferl has been around as early as the 13th century, but many believe it may be even older.

(Kipferi for reference)

HOWEVER, the Croissant is distinctly different from the kipferi because of how they are made. The kipferi is made using "brioche dough" while the croissant is made using "laminated yeast dough".

(Yes it's legally distinct moon bread)
