100

Why do two foods in the same family taste so different?

There are differences in the chemical compounds which creates different tastes when the food interacts with your taste buds

What is Food Science?

Food science is the study of the physical, biological, and chemical makeup of food; the causes of food deterioration; and the concepts underlying food processing.

Why can't you eat raw eggs or chicken?

Eggs: You risk exposing yourself to Salmonella

Chicken: Can carry more diseases as well as Salmonella

200

What chemical reactions make food taste good?

The Malliard Reactions, which are a series of chemical reactions which gives food their unique flavors and aromas

What does GMO mean?

Genetically Modified Organism which means that the product is made in labs and by scientists which means they are not actual food but chemicals

300

How do you know if food is cooked enough?

The appearance changes due to the chemical reactions that it undergoes
300

Why does food taste the way it does?

Taste Buds! Everybody has different taste buds, but there are actually different parts of your tongue that interact with the overall flavors of the food (i.e. salty, sweet, and bitter) and the chemical compounds to let you taste things

What are Amino Acids?

they are simple organic compounds containing an amino group and a carboxyl group: the building blocks of proteins

500

What are the dangers in overly-processed foods and GMO products?

GMO products are known to sometimes cause cancerous and other harmful diseases as well as being non-natural and in no ways are organic. Overly-processed foods are not only bad for you in ways of cholesterol and high fat but they include harmful chemicals.
