The definition of force.
A push or pull?
What two factors do we use to determine which object got a great force?
Change in velocity and mass.
What is the more scientific word for when objects come into contact and crash into each other.
A collision
If an object's velocity has changed it must have had...
A force applied to it.
What happens to the object's velocity when two objects of the same mass collide.
They have the same change in velocity.
What two things are true about the forces exerted on the objects involved in a collision?
They are opposite and equal (same).
What are the two ways force is measured/described.
strength and direction
What happens to the change in velocity when two objects of different masses collide?
They are different. The one with less mass experiences a great change in velocity.
When a bowling ball and golf ball collide which object experiences a greater change in velocity?
The golf ball.
What are the two factors that make up an object's velocity?
Speed and direction
If two objects of different masses start moving at the same velocity which object was pushed with more force?
The object with more mass.
When a bowling ball and marble collide which object will have a SMALLLER change in velocity?
The bowling ball.
What are the five ways an object can change its velocity?
Speed up, slow down, start moving, stop moving and change direction.
AFTER the space ship and pod collide in the missing seconds video which object MUST BE going slower.?Why?
The space ship because it is more massive and will have a smaller change in velocity.
A bowling ball and a golf ball collide. Later a bowling ball and a ping pong ball collide. In the collision with the ping pong ball collisions the bowling ball experiences the a greater change in velocity. Did the ping pong ball or the golf ball experience a stronger force? Why?
The ping pong ball experienced a greater force. Forces in a collision are equal and opposite. Since the bowling ball had a greater change in velocity when it collided with the ping pong ball it must have had a greater force exerted on it. Since the force the bowling ball received is equal to the one the ping pong ball received it must have gotten a stronger force too.
