What was the reason behind the framers deliberate exclusion of the word "slave" from the Constitution?

(Don't misunderstand this to mean that the system of slavery itself is not described in the Constitution, because it definitely is!)

The framers intentionally did not use the word "slave" in the Constitution because they felt that it would give the document a negative connotation. Even then, they recognized that the system of slavery was not something to be proud of in future generations.
