They became dependent on some of the items and soon it was hard for them to get along without them.

 Another disadvantage was that many of the items were used up getting more animals for the trade. 

A third disadvantage was trading for liquor which was soon gone and caused bad behavior. 

A fourth problem was the tribes moved and changed their way of life just to be near the animals they trapped. 

The last was trading allowed the Europeans a foothold into the life of the tribes making it hard for them to ever get free again.
