What is Alchemy? Why do you think Frankenstein was obsessed with it?

Alchemy is a medieval science that blends magic with chemistry. Alchemists used pseudo-scientific methods to try to discover immortality or to turn metals like lead into gold (among other things).

Frankenstein loved the idea of gaining glory for discovering something as amazing as immortality.

The creature was never given a name by Victor. In the story so far he is called the 'creature' and the 'monster.'

Victor gets seriously sick for several months afterwards. The creature disappears.
