What is Max? I love Max's silent, gentle-giant persona- and I feel for him because he is so sad and alone at the start of the story I also love that he is willing to take part in Freak's wild adventures while protecting him on his shoulders throughout. I think Max is actually a smart kid who has simply never been given the chance to seize the chance to put his talents to use- and Freak is certainly going to help him do that- what an amazing friendship!! Can't wait to see how much he grown- not physically but mentally/spiritually over course of the novel.
