Patient Assessment
100

The first thing you say before beginning any scenario

"My BSI is on, is my scene safe?"

100

The assessment done to determine if a patient is having a stroke

FAST Test (Actually do it!)

100

What does a positive halo test indicate?

Presence of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in the blood, indicating significant head injury

100

Head trauma that is characterized by increased BP and decreased HR

Increased Intracranial Pressure (ICP)

100
What acronyms/assessments do you do for secondary assessment in medical and trauma scenarios?

Medical - SAMPLE and (only if patient is in pain) OPQRST

Trauma - DCAPBTLS + Head-to-Toe Assessment

200

The normal ranges/signs for BP, HR, RR, SC, and SpO2

120/80 (100-140 systolic); 60-100bpm; 12-20 breaths; "Pink/normal colored, warm and dry"; 94% and up

200

What is checked to determine patient's mental status? What do you NOT give a patient who is AMS?

A&Ox4; Oral medication

200
In FRG, what will the systolic BP be below in all shock patients?

Below 90 systolic

200

You can identify this condition by noting paradoxical chest movement upon rib palpation

Flail Chest

200

Your patient's airway is not patent, they appear cool, pale and cyanotic with an SpO2 of 65%. What airway adjunct, oxygen apparatus, and flow rate are you using

OPA; BVM; 15 L/min

300

The arterial point you find in a conscious patient, the arterial point you find in an unconscious patient

Radial; carotid

300

This condition occurs when there is his an ischemia of the coronary artery, characterized by chest pain that radiates to the jaws, arms, and/or shoulder blades

Heart Attack

300

Every shock patient in FRG will by hypotensive (low BP), and typically to compensate for the low BP the HR will be elevated. However, there is 1 form of shock that has both a low BP and low HR, which one is it?

Neurogenic Shock

300

How do you identify and treat a sucking chest wound?

Pink frothy blood, absent lung sounds on the affected side; occlusive dressing taped on three sides for entry wounds, and four sides for exit wounds

300

64-yo male, history of smoking, barrel chest is noted upon chest examination, coughing pink frothy sputum. SpO2 of 86%. How are you diagnosing and treating this patient?

Diagnosis: CHF, COPD

Treatment: NRB @ 15L/MIN; MDI

400

The contraindication of a Head-Tilt-Chin-Lift

C-Spine Compromise/Injury

400

The contraindications of aspirin

Stomach ulcers, excessive external or internal bleeding, stroke, aspirin allergy, taking any other blood thinners, at or above max dose, AMS

400

What is a unique symptom of septic shock? (Hint: What happens to you when you have an infection?) What can you NOT give them?

Fever (above 101); heat blanket

400

This type of bleeding is characterized by dark red, flowing blood. How do you treat it? Another type of bleeding is characterized by bright red, spurting blood. How do you treat it?

Venous bleeding; pressure bandage

Arterial bleeding; tourniquet

400

Your patient is presented to you with a patent airway, a BP of 154/96, an SpO2 of 91% and localized urticaria on the right arm. A bee stinger is noted on the right arm. Your patient's chief complaint is chest pain that radiates to the shoulder and jaw. Facial droop and slurred speech is also noted. What is your diagnosis and treatment?

Diagnosis: Allergic reaction, heart attack, stroke, bro is having a bad day

Treatment: Nasal Cannula at 6 L/min (anywhere from 2-6L/min is fine), scrape the bee stinger off. NO epi-pen (this is an allergic reaction, not anaphylaxis) and NO aspirin (because the patient is having a stroke because he failed the FAST test, we do not want to risk increased brain hemorrhage). Rapid Transport!!

500

What are the two methods of inserting an OPA? What do you do if the patient wakes up and begins to gag?

Insertion by 90 or 180 degrees; pull it out anatomically

500

This lung sound is produced by an upper airway obstruction and is heard on inspiration, what is the lung sound and what condition may it indicate? Another lung sound makes a high pitched noise normally heard on exhalation, what is the lung sound and what condition(s) may it indicate?

Stridor; anaphylaxis

Wheezing; asthma, COPD

500

What does an EpiPen treat? Fill in the blank: "___ to the sky, ____ to the thigh."

Anaphylaxis; "Blue to the sky, orange to the thigh"

500

What are two ways to stabilize and bandage a penetrating object?

Lincoln Log or Donut

500

Your opps tried to slime granny with a bazooka, but the rocket missed. However, the blast from the rocket left granny with bright red spurting blood from her arm and a laceration on her neck. How do you treat granny?

Tourniquet to treat the arterial bleed on the arm; On the neck, bandage/gauze, occlusive dressing, then a pressure bandage.
