Doesn't want to change clothes (ex: for P.E.); withdrawn, depressed, anxious; eating disorders, preoccupation with body; aggression, delinquency, poor peer relationships; poor self image; sudden absenteeism; substance abuse; sleep disturbance; sexual acting out; unusual or repetitive soothing behaviors; sexual behavior or knowledge; reports sexual abuse
Behavioral signs of sexual abuse
Delays in development; wetting bed, clothes; speech disorders; health problems like ulcers, skin disorders; obesity and weight fluctuation
Physical signs of emotional abuse in children
Parent or caregiver harms a child's mental and social development, or causes severe emotional harm,; single incident may be abuse, most often emotional abuse is a pattern of behavior that causes damage over time
Emotional abuse
Not taking a child to hospital for serious illness or injury; keeping a child from getting needed tx; not providing preventative medical and dental care; failing to follow medical recommendations for a child
Examples of medical neglect
A person 18 years of age or older whose ability to perform the normal activities of daily living or to provide his or her own care or protection is impaired due to a mental, emotional, sensory, long-term physical, or developmental disability or dysfunction, or brain damage, or the infirmities of aging.
Vulnerable adult
Rejecting or ignoring; shaming or humiliating; terrorizing; isolating; corrupting
Emotional abuse
Revolves around a person's spirituality or religion; attacking another's belief system; denying access to a house worship; forces participation in a cult
Spiritual abuse
If the parent or the caregiver routinely ignores, criticizes, yells at or blames child; plays favorites with one sibling over another; poor anger management; stormy relationships with other adults; history of violence or abuse; untreated mental illness, alcoholism or substance abuse

Deserting a child or refusing to take custody of a child who is under their care; repeatedly leaving a child in another's custody; failing to provide enough healthy food and drink; failing to provide clothes; failing to ensure adequate personal hygiene; not supervising a child appropriately; leaving the child with an inappropriate caregiver; exposing a child to unsafe environments

Tells them "not allowed" to have pain flare up; steals or withholds social security disability check; tells them that they are bad parent or could never be a parent because they have a disability; invalidating disability; uses their disability to shame or humiliate them; threatens to harm their service animal
