macular degeneration symptoms
blurred vision, loss of central vision, blindness
Diastolic BP
the pressure measured during ventricular relaxation
Furosemide mode of action
Furosemide works by blocking the reabsorption of sodium, chloride, and water at the ascending loop of Henle (part of a kidney tubule that forms a long loop in the medulla of the kidney, from which water and salts are reabsorbed into the blood).
It also causes increased excretion of potassium, magnesium, and calcium, which causes rapid diuresis (excess urination).
Hypersomnia interventions
limiting naps, staying away from heavy meals, avoiding alcohol, and exercising to promote alertness and quality sleep.
Chronic Pain Classifications
chronic pain is classified as either chronic primary pain or chronic secondary pain.

Justice
Justice is that there should be an element of fairness in all medical and nursing decisions and care. Nurses must care for all patients with the same level of fairness despite the individual's financial abilities, race, religion, gender, and/or sexual orientation.

health care directive
A written document that specifies medical treatment for a competent patient, should he or she become unable to make decisions. Also known as an advance directive or a living will.
Hypersomnia causes
may be caused by another sleep disorder (such as narcolepsy or sleep apnea), dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system, or drug or alcohol abuse. In some cases it results from a physical problem, such as a tumor, head trauma, or injury to the central nervous system.
Does substance P cause pain?
The Role of Substance P in the BodyResearchers found that substance P caused pain through a process known as nociception. A nociceptor is a sensory neuron or nerve cell that reacts to potentially damaging stimuli by signaling the spinal cord and brain. Nociception causes the perception of pain.
dysphagia
difficulty swallowing
