Harry S. Truman (USA President) says that communism and the USSR are fundamentally opposed to the interests of the USA and that the USSR and USA are no longer allies (friends).

An American spy ship was attacked in the Gulf of Tonkin and this led to the president being able to convince the Congress (American version of Parliament) that the USA needed to officially declare war on Vietnam.

Potsdam = Germany would pay high reparations to the USSR

Describe the difference between the Bay of Pigs and the Cuban Missile Crisis. 

The Bay of Pigs = USA trained Cuban exiles (gave them military training and weapons) and asked them to go and fight Castro - the plan was found out and Castro met them on the beach - many of them died or were taken prisoner. 


Cuban Missile Crisis = USSR put missiles in Cuba and the USA found out - retaliated by putting missiles in Turkey - this was the closest the world had ever gotten to Nuclear Warfare = eventually was de-escalated.
