He and his wife got their children out through his door, now on top of the van. Then they realized their daughter Emily, 10, was missing. This is the rest of the story.
What is... Other ward members stopped to help, trying to find Emily in the dark. Elder Bowen searched with a flashlight and realized she was under the van. He and several others lifted the van off, but she was blue from not breathing. Elder Bowen gave her a priesthood blessing and she took a shuddering breath. Emily was in a coma for two days but, miraculously, recovered fully. She is now married with six daughters.
