God intends to give us what we need, not what we now think we want. But sometimes we are puzzled when we get what we need aren't we. How can our Father in Heaven watch as we go through heartbreaking experiences?

Throughout my life, I have learned to trust in the Lord, and I have seen innumerable blessings come to my family and me as we have sought to faithfully live the law of tithing and offerings. Some blessings have been temporal, others spiritual, but all have strengthened our testimony that the Lord always fulfills His promises and that the windows of heaven are opened according to our obedience.

I believe with all my heart that if my parents lived in Bethlehem and when Joseph was searching for a place for Mary to give birth and he knocked on our door, and if our rooms were occupied, my parents would gladly offer their room.

Service is not something we endure on this earth so we can earn the right to live in the Celestial Kingdom, service is the very fiber of which a life in the Celestial Kingdom is made.

Resisting the impulse to initially respond built common ground which allowed me later to teach from a place of love. As with the Savior we love Him because He loved us first.

To all the rising generation of the church, I invite you to place serving a full time mission high on your list, don't be distracted by alternatives of far less worth.

Prophets of God today strongly reaffirm that the Lord has asked every able worthy young man to prepare for and serve a mission.

DOUBLE POINTS

We make the covenant during sacred time with God every Sunday. A way we keep the covenant is by ministering to God’s children every day. Often this happens when God places someone in our path and we have eyes to see them. I call these “divine appointments.”

Some conduct, which is not inherently evil, can keep us from engaging in spiritual matters that will bless us now and throughout eternity. In our day the application of this principle is essential if we are to be true lifelong disciples of Christ.

The Lord is not delayed or distracted in his deliverance. He has not forgotten you. He doesn't take joy in your suffering. However, He knows that lessons learned while waiting can bring converting growth that an earlier rescue might not produce.

As I bear witness of the eternal depth and nature of our Father’s love, I also offer this warning: Beware of the adversary’s deceitful lie that twists this precious truth. He tries to deceive God’s children into believing that because God loves us, we can be saved regardless of our pride, regardless of our rebellion, regardless of our sins, and regardless of our rejection of His Son and His Son’s servants. Receiving Christ through priesthood ordinances and covenants, and then being faithful to those covenants, is the only way for us to fully understand His love and the only way to exaltation.

We are grateful to know that there are two methods of gaining needed knowledge: (1) the evolving disclosures of man through the scientific method and digital information, which may be inaccurate, and (2) the truths discovered through the spiritual method, which begins with faith in God and relies on scriptures, inspired teaching, and personal revelation. There is no ultimate conflict between knowledge obtained by these different methods because God, our omnipotent Eternal Father, knows all truth and expects us to learn by both methods.

The Sacrament can become the fresh starting point for our personal relationship with God, and for a greater Christ centered unity in our lives.

Have you ever noticed that the Sacrament is the only ordinance we receive during which we are not addressed by name? ... We partake individually, but also as a group. There is something powerful and empowering about renewing covenants with God while surrounded by brothers and sisters who have made covenants with God. The sacrament is a weekly reminder that we are not alone. We have the Savior and we have each other.

By divine design, everyone must choose for themselves to choose Jesus Christ

Listen carefully. I ask you to turn over to Jesus Christ your despair for those wayward souls. We cannot change their hearts, but He can; He is a God of miracles. We love our family members and friends profoundly, but they are foremost children of our Father in Heaven, who knows and loves them even more than we do. Our Father, the great Elohim, gave His Beloved Son the authority and power necessary to heal all His children. That is the good news of the gospel. By the power of Jesus Christ’s Atonement, there is always a way back!

We all have present or future concerns or struggles we are trying to overcome. Those may include questions or doubts. Whatever they are, the way to overcome them is to get closer to our Savior, Jesus Christ. Again and again, He has taught us that He is the way. Focus on developing your faith in God and the mission of His Son, Jesus Christ. Strong faith requires more than strong desire. It means daily trying, one step at a time, with prayer and scriptural learning.

Fasting is an expression of our desire to draw nearer to Him, communicate the true desires of our hearts, and understand His will for us.

Through fasting and prayer, our faith, love and devotion to Him deepen, we become more  humble and more aware of our complete dependence on the Lord. Our hearts are softened, our souls become more receptive to the influence of the Holy Ghost, and we are better prepared to receive personal revelation.

Do we truly appreciate all the Lord has done for us? He spares us from the only two things that can bring us permanent misery: separation from our bodies and separation from God because of sin. Even as He comforts us through temporary times of challenge and pain, He has prepared our rescue from permanent tragedy.

As we seek the Savior's perspective, He will often guide us to those who need to be seen...
