In the Holy Quran, why does God refer to Himself in the plural?

Allah Almighty refers to Himself in the plural in order to indicate His supreme authority and majesty. A similar analogy can be made to the human language. For instance, a study of the language of kings reveals that they too modeled their names in the plural form. Although the king was one being, special emphasis was made on using the pronoun “we” to distinguish his dignity, high status and rule over his kingdom. Similarly, God has referred to Himself in the plural sense in the Holy Qur’an to elucidate the Divine supremacy that He has over the universe. Every faith has adopted this style, but Islam makes the grandeur of the Creator very adamant and clear.
