Definition of a resident?
Resident: person who: o is legally entitled to be in Canada o makes a permanent home in Alberta o commits to being physically present in Alberta for at least 183 days in a 12 month period o is deemed a resident by the regulations o does not claim residency or obtain benefits under a claim of residency outside of Alberta, and o is not a tourist, transient or visitor to Alberta
What residency control dates are not assigned a control date?
All residency codes (except code A and N) are assigned a residency control date to enable monitoring of residency status through the file confirmation process
What is the maximum allowable time someone can be away due to business/employment?
48 months/4 years
