a righteous patriarch chosen by God to build an ark and save his family and a pair of every kind of animal from a global flood. He built the ark out of obedience to God's instructions, demonstrating faith and godliness in a wicked world. After the floodwaters receded, God established a covenant with Noah and his family, symbolized by the rainbow, promising never to destroy the earth with a flood again.

an Egyptian handmaiden of Sarai (Sarah) who became a concubine of Abraham, giving birth to their son, Ishmael, at Sarai's suggestion due to her inability to conceive. After conceiving, Hagar became pregnant and looked down on Sarah, leading to harsh treatment and Hagar's subsequent flight into the wilderness. There, she was comforted by an angel, who promised her numerous descendants
