What is a Compass Rose?
The representation of an area of land or sea showing physical features, cities, roads, etc.

Elevated portion of earth with steep sides and a peak.
What is a mountain?
An area of land that has common features.
What is a region?
This region is considered the hottest region in the US.
What is the Southwest Region?
The cardinal directions on a compass.
What is North, South, East, West?
This type of map shows topographical features. (landforms)

What is a river?
11 states make up this region. The eastern coast is on the Atalantic Ocean. The nation's capital is located in this region.
What is the Northeast Region?
This region can be sometimes refered to as the Mid West

This type of map represents countries, states, and towns. Often they are different colors so we can see them better. This map also shows names and boundaries.

A large body of water surrounded by land.
What is a lake?
Locates near the Gulf of Mexico AND the Atlantic Ocean. High temperatures, humid and thunderstoms are known for this region.

relationship between distance on a map and the corresponding distance on the ground.

a deep gorge, typically with a river flowing though it.

Made up of five states located in the west.
What is the Pacific Region?
The subregion of the Western United States that includes states such as Utah, Wyoming, and Idaho.
What is the Rocky Mountain Region?
Imaginary Lines that run North to South on Earth.
What is longitude?
Imaginary lines that run from east to west on Earth.
What is latitude?
A large area of high and fairly flat land.
