This Era is known as the age of  great dying

What is the Paleozoic era?

100

The Mesozoic Era was the age of ............

What is reptiles?

100
Once the dinosaurs became extinct, which species dominated the earth?

What is mammals?

100

The precambrian super era was __% of earth's geological history up until now

What is 90%?

200

How long ago did the Paleozoic era occur?

What is 541-252 million years ago?

200

Pangea began to break apart during the Mesozoic period, how many years ago?

What is 175 million years ago?

200

Which epoch are we currently in , within the Cenozoic period?

What is the the Holocene epoch?

200

When did the precambrian super era begin and end?

What is 4600 million years ago - 541 million years ago?

300

Name the periods of this era in order from earliest to latest?

What is Cambrian, Ordovician, Silurian, Devonian, Mississippian, Pennsylvanian, Permian?

300

Was  the earth warmer  or colder in the Mesozoic Era then today and why?

What is the Earth was warmer during the Mesozoic Era, as a result of volcanic activity, lack of polar ice  and other natural forces.

300

Name both the current mass extinction occuring and the animal responsible?

What is the Holocene Extinction and humans?

300

Name the  3 periods of the precambrian super era, and in which one did multicellular organisms begin to evolve?

1. Hadean

2. Archaean

3. Proterozoic

* Multicellular organisms evolved in the Proterozoic

400

How did the ice age during the Devonian period affect aquatic organisms?

What is there were periods  during the ice age of Devonian where there were low levels of dissolved oxygen which resulted in the extinction of a variety of aquatic species.

400

Which species made up 20% of plant life during the Mesozoic period  and what is it's   importance?

What is Cycads which are the most dominant plant at this time and are necessary because herbivores relied on them as a food source
400

Did sea level increase or decrease throughout the Cenozoic era and why?

What is sea levels  decreased due to low  temperatures which caused glaciers to form.

400

What was the event that occured early in the Precambrian making earth incredibly cold, and what evidence is there of it

The Huronian glaciation. Glaciers and ice sheets left behind rocks and other formations in places like West Australia, North America, Finland and Southern Africa that prove that the earth was once covered in ice during this era.

500

What are the two mass extinction events of the Paleozoic Era and affected organisms for each?

What is  late Devonian extinction (variety of corals, trilobites, and brachiopods)  and Permian-Triassic Extinction (Mainly Marine invertebrates however all species were impacted) ?

500

What is the name and cause of the mass extinction that resulted in  the dinosaurs to become extinct?

What is Cretaceous-Paleogene Extinction?

There is not one confirmed cause of this extinction. However, supposed reasons include asteroid impact,  volcanic activity or a combined mix of both

500

How did the formation of mountain ranges affect the climate?

What is the formation of mountain ranges affect the climate by altering wind and rainfall patterns. The newly exposed rock absorbs carbon dioxide through weathering which decreases greenhouse gases and contributes to cooling the earth.

500

Was there a mass extinction during this era? What was the cause, organisms affected and year that it occurred?

Yes, there was an extinction, around 650 million years ago. It is referred to as the Great Oxygenation Event. During this event large amounts of oxygen was produced by photosynthetic plants which killed the majority of anaerobic organisms that are unable to live with oxygen.
