What is choice architecture?
The deliberate design of a user interface where multimedia and interactive elements are used to influence the decisions and behaviour of a stakeholder within a user experience. ('Choice' = a range of possibilities to pick from; 'architecture' = a carefully designed structure.)
What is digital privacy?
An individual's control over how their personal data is collected, used and shared.
What is a wireframe
a basic visual blueprint that outlines the structure, layout, and functionality of a website or mobile app before any color, styling, or design work begins.
What is a NIC?
A Network Interface Card - the hardware that connects a device to a network. It converts data into frames, then into electrical, optical or wireless signals to send, and reverses this to receive.
How correct are you
110%
What is the Internet of Me (IoMe)?
The way an enterprise uses your collected data to customise interactive media to you - adapting content and services to the individual. E-profiles are how it learns about you; IoMe is how that data is used.
The NSW PPIP Act 1998
The Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (NSW). It regulates the NSW public sector (government agencies) - not private corporations.
Difference between Lo-fi High-fi
lo-fi embraces flaws, simplicity, and raw structure, while hi-fi focuses on clarity, polish, and accurate replication of a final product
Define Amplitude shift keying (ASK)
A modulation method that encodes data by changing the amplitude (strength/height) of the carrier wave, while keeping frequency and phase constant.
Who came up to J Swain at bunnings
Buddy Presto, Burga, or Toby Stew
All the same except Buddy Presto
What is click-through rate (CTR)?
The percentage of people who click a link or element out of everyone who saw it. It measures how effective a design or nudge is at driving a chosen action.
What is the ACSC?
The Australian Cyber Security Centre - the government body that provides cyber threat advice, alerts and incident response to help protect Australians and enterprises.
What shows how data moves through a system
Data Flow chart
What is a default gateway?
The device (usually the router) that forwards data from a local network out to other networks, and between subnets - the 'exit door' of the LAN.
Who punched a hole in Mitchell's wall
Cadell can't answer
Tom M
What is the Internet of Things (IoT)?
Connecting digital devices and physical hardware (usually via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth) so machines can communicate and respond without human intervention. Its purpose is to automate - e.g. a smart home dimming the lights and closing the blinds for a movie.
What is an evil twin attack?
A fake wireless access point that imitates a legitimate Wi-Fi network by using the same or similar SSID. Users unknowingly connect, routing their traffic through the attacker.
Why are data flow diagrams useful when mapping how information moves through a multi step digital proccess
They show where data enters, transforms, stores, and exits, making inefficiencies easier to spot
How does a NIC send data? (order)
The app gives data to the OS, the data is broken into chunks, the NIC wraps each chunk into a frame (source MAC, destination MAC, error check), the frame is turned into electrical or wireless signals, and sent to the next device.
Who punched a hole in Chris's window
Riley W
What is the difference between interactive elements and multimedia
multimedia focuses on combining different types of content to convey information, while interactive elements focus on user participation and two-way responses.
What is an SSID?
Service Set Identifier - the name of a Wi-Fi network. Evil twin attacks copy a legitimate SSID so victims connect to the fake network.
How does a networking diagram reveal the underlying logic of a system better than a standard flow chat
It shows the physical + logical relationships between devices, paths, and topology, not just process steps
The postal analogy for IP
MAC address = the recipient's name; IP address = the full street address; network portion = the street/suburb; host portion = the house number; router = the postal service; data packet = the parcel.
