It varies. A whole class, a small group, or individually -- one child at a time

That depends. If you are having a real emergency, I will get to you as soon as possible. If you just want to have lunch with me, it might take a while but you guys are my top priority as well as your teacher.

What are two things that Mrs. Burgess loves doing when I am not at school?

Running, reading, hiking, spending time with my family and friends, and taking care of my garden.

How will I expect you to behave when I am in your room?

I will expect you to be respectful, responsible, ready to learn, and peaceful. If we ever struggle as a group to be respectful - I will pause the activity and we will take however long we need to regroup.

Yes! I work with all of Minot Public School's counselors from kindergarten to 12th grade. I go to meetings with School Counselors.

Why did I become a School Counselor?

I love working with kids, talking with kids, helping kids, encouraging kids, problem-solving with kids, and the confidence we both gain by being in each other's corner. I was a classroom teacher for 8 years, so taking care of you guys is my job.

False, even if you made a bad decision, you are never in trouble unless the situation warrants it and Mrs. Gullicks is not at school -- however, I am an adult who is in your corner and 9 out of 10 times when a student visits me they are not in trouble. My job is not to discipline.

What does respect look like when I am in your classroom?

Everyone is listening and paying attention to whoever is doing the talking. We all behave the same if not better than when Mrs. Lach is teaching. If you respect me, I respect you.
