What was an immigrant’s life like once he made it to the United States?
It was a very hard life where you couldn't find work for yourself. When you did find work it was for low wages and in poor working conditions. Sometimes your factory would burn down or they would replace you. You then had to start the process over again. You lived in poor areas with other families and your chances of catching an illness were great.

What is the Nativist movement and why did they try to stop immigrants from gaining employment or owning land?
They wanted to stop immigrants from gaining employment because they were afraid that the immigrants were going to take their jobs away by working for less money. They also blamed the immigrants for crimes and increase in sickness among the people of the United States.

Why did cowboys begin driving cattle north and what put an end to the Cattle Drives?
Cattle drives happened because you could sell cattle for more money in the north than you could in the South. It ended because of trains and the rise of ranching in the Texas .
