What are the different ways our church celebrates the martyrs?

+We celebrate their feasts.

+We name churches after their names.

+We name the priests, bishops, monks and nuns after their names.  

+Abouna offers incense in front of their icons because we are one with them. We all love the Lord Jesus. They pray to the Lord on our behalf and we ask for their intercessions. 

+We paint icons to tell their stories to remind everyone of their faith and their hard work to keep the faith so we can imitate them. We also lit candles in front of their icons because they were light to the world

What is the Synaxarium Book?

The Synaxarium is the book that has stories of our fathers, the martyrs and saints, along with commemorations of feasts and fasting days. It is organized according to the days of the Coptic year (the martyr calendar).

Who are the new saints and martyrs added to the Synaxarium?

These are people who lived with us and bore witness to the Lord with their strong faith in front of everyone around them. This way, we get to know their stories and learn from them. 

They are our friends, and we ask for their intercessions through our prayers with them, while they ask the Lord on our behalf. Since God loves us and loves them, He hears our prayers and their intercessions for us, and He rejoices in our love and friendship for one another
