Countries
The name of a formal request or proposal made by delegates to direct debate in a specific direction.
A Motion
I want to clarify with Germany about a point they made during debate about their clean energy programs. I am going to raise a point of ______.
Information
The team of people who ensure the conference runs smoothly. Includes the Chair, the Director, the Rapporteur, and the Staff.
The Dias
These are never written by one country alone, but must be written with other delegations as a team.
They are written suggestions for actions to address a problem posed at the beginning of the GC conference.
Resolutions
How the Dias makes sure countries (delegations) are present.
Roll call
TRUE OR FALSE: Debate automatically begins even if a delegate does not "motion" for it to start.
FALSE. A delegate must motion for debate to begin.

Order
This person is the "big boss." They run the game: enforce rules, approve/reject motions, etc. They are like the referee.
The Chair
This is the city where Global Classrooms finalists from Madrid travel to for the international GC Conference.

The round of speeches that start the conference, where each country can express their position (opinion/perspective).
Opening Speeches
TRUE OR FALSE: Delegates are able to use personal pronouns like "I" when they are debating or motioning.
FALSE. Delegates must speak in the third person, as their country.
For example: "Spain/The delegation of Spain believes..."
This is extra time that can be given to the chair, used for questions, or to another delegation.
Yield
The roll call could not be completed without this member of the Dias. They also keep time and tally votes.
The Rapporteur
During the Ethical Dilemma activity on Tuesday, there were ____ people in the hot air balloon, besides the pilot. The class decided ________ should be thrown from the balloon.

A piece of paper with the name of your country on it. You raise it to either "motion" or speak during debate.
Placard
This is (one example) of the proper way to motion to open an unmoderated caucus.
“Honorable Chair, Spain moves to begin/open an Unmoderated Caucus with a total time of 10 minutes."

This is a member of the Dias who is on YOUR team. They guide delegates through the process of writing resolutions and passing amendments. They are like a coach.
The Director

The Politician, The Footballer, and The Scientist
TRUE OR FALSE: Resolutions can be written before the conference begins.
FALSE. Resolutions cannot be written before the conference begins.

The Chair
The formal English word for choosing not to vote.

Abstain

FALSE. Opening speeches are typically about 90 seconds per delegation.
Resolutions are primarily written during this part of the conference.
Unmoderated Caucus
