Will (the goat)
. What does the title GOAT stand for, and how does it relate to the plot?
The title is a play on words. GOAT stands for Greatest Of All Time («лучший из лучших»). In the story, the main character, Will the goat, dreams of becoming as great as his hero, Jet the black panther, who plays for the city's team, Spikes.
Greatness isn’t about size or status — it’s about heart and effort.
Will is a small goat in a sport dominated by bigger animals, and he’s also just a diner worker with money problems. But his determination and work ethic make him a real asset. The movie shows that what matters most is how much you care and how hard you’re willing to try.
Jet (the black panther)
What sport does Will want to play professionally?
Will dreams of playing roarball, a high-intensity, mixed, full-contact sport where the fastest and fiercest animals in the world dominate.
Dream big, but back it up with action.
Will doesn’t just dream of playing roarball — he trains, takes risks, and keeps going even when things look impossible. The film ties big dreams to consistent effort: dreaming big alone isn’t enough; you have to show up every day.
Florence (“Flo”) (the team owner)
What problem does Will face that threatens to derail his dreams?
Will works at the cafe and struggles to make ends meet. He also can't pay his rent, which leads him to sell his favorite sneakers and enter a bet with an Andalusian horse named Галоп , the star player of another team.
Setting aside ego helps everyone succeed.
Jet starts as the star who doesn’t want anyone stealing his spotlight. He resents Will at first and struggles with feeling threatened. As he learns to value the team over his own pride, he becomes a better leader and a better player. His understood how ego can hold a team back, and how humility helps it grow.
Gallop (the Andalusian horse)
How does Will catch the attention of the team owner ?
After his viral video of beating Галоп spreads, Фло signs him to the team as the sixth player, despite Jet's initial anger.
Respect is earned through showing up, not through titles.
Will starts as an outsider and a joke to some, but he earns his teammates’ respect by contributing in the big game. The story shows that respect comes from what you do, not from who you are or where you come from.
Who bought the team?
So the Spikes become a team owned by its players, not by an outside investor or one big name.
What is the name of Jet's team, and what is its record before Will joins?
Jet's team is called Spikes. Before Will joins, it has not won a single game all season.
Community and support can lift you up.
The players don’t buy the team alone. They get help from fans and local businesses after their story goes viral. The movie highlights that no one succeeds in total isolation: support from others — whether it’s encouragement, resources, or just showing up — is a real part of winning.
