If my ball goes into the water, can I play it?
Yes.
100
If I accidently record the wrong score on a hole and then sign my scorecard, what will happen?
If the recorded score is higher than my actual score, I will take the higher score. If the recorded score is lower, I will be disqualified.
100
What is the name of the club that you use on the putting green?
Putter. It is never okay to use another club except a putter on the putting green.
100
Where do I start the hole? In other words, where do I tee off?
Tee box, behind the tee markers.
100
What is the penalty if I hit a ball out-of-bounds?
2-stroke penalty. Replay your shot from where you just hit.
200
What are the two types of water hazards?
Regular water hazards and Lateral water hazards
200
When I am unsure about a rule, what should I do?
Ask a Coach for help. If a Coach is not in the area, play two balls and take both scores. When I finish, I will ask a Coach which ball to score.
200
If I ask a player to tend (hold) the flagstick but he fails to remove it before my ball hits it, what happens?
I will incur a two-stroke penalty and play the ball as it lies (where it is.) The same rule applies if your putt hits a flagstick resting on the ground.
200
Can I use any club on the tee box?
Yes. In most cases, I will use a wood. On shorter par-3's, I will use an iron.
200
If my ball is touching the out-of-bounds line, is it considered to be out-of-bounds?
No.
300
What color marks regular water hazards? What color marks lateral water hazards?
Yellow. Red.
300
If I am anywhere except the tee box or the green and accidently touch my golf ball, what should I do?
I MUST incur a 1 stroke penalty. I will tell my playing partners what happened and put the ball back to where it was before it moved.
300
If my ball is blocking another player's ball from the hole, what should I do?
If my ball is within tapping distance (very close,) I should tap the ball into the hole. If not, I must put a coin behind the ball so that the player can play his shot.
300
If I accidently knock my ball off the tee, is it a penalty?
No. The teeing ground and the putting green are the only two places where you can accidently touch your ball and not incur a penalty.
300
If there is no line marking the out-of-bounds, how do I determine if my ball is in bounds? Hint: there are white out-of-bounds stakes.
Draw an imaginary line between the inside surface of the out-of-bounds stakes. This is to be considered your out-of-bounds line.
400
If my ball is inside the hazard line, but not in the water, is it considered to be in the water hazard?
Yes.
400
If I am in the either the BUNKER or in a WATER HAZARD, may I touch any objects around the ball?
Yes, only if the object is a man-made object, such as a Coke can or a cigarette butt.
400
In order to mark a
I must incur a two-stroke penalty and play the ball from where it lies (where it is.)
400
If I accidently hit another player with my golf ball, what should I do? Is there a penalty?
I should sincerely apologize to the player and report the incident to a Coach as soon as possible. There is no penalty for hitting another player, but you must play the ball where it lies.
400
If my ball is resting against an out-of-bounds fence, am I allowed to move the ball without penalty?
No. You may only move the ball if it rests against a man-made object that is not an out-of-bounds marker.
500
If my ball goes into a Regular Water hazard, what should I do?
I have three options: 1) Play the ball, 2) Replay from my last spot and take a 2 stroke penalty, and 3) Go backwards from where my ball crossed the hazard line and drop anywhere on that line.
500
If my playing partner accidently hits my golf ball instead of his own, what should I do?
I will tell my playing partner that he hit my golf ball instead of his and that he must incur a 2-stroke penalty. I will make sure to never hit another player's golf ball. I will always check my golf ball before hitting it.
500
2 questions: 1) If a leaf is between my ball and the hole, may I pick it up with my hand? 2) May I brush the leaf away with my putter?
You may pick up the leaf with your hand, but you may not touch your "line" with your putter. The "line" is the imaginary line between your ball and the hole.
500
I may use a golf tee on the tee box. May I also choose to put the ball directly on the ground?
Yes.
500
If I suspect that my ball is out of bounds, but I am not sure, what should I do?
Play a provisional ball from where you last played and then look for the ball before you hit your next shot.
