Are kindness and helpfulness the same thing/ Explain the difference between a kind person and a helpful person with an example. which of these qualities is more important ?

Kindness is the quality of being kind. Helpfulness is the quality of helping people in a situation. A person who is kind, cares for others and helps them. Kindness implies helpfulness as well. The boy in the story was helpful when he gave the wood to the old man or the coat to the man on the bridge. However, he was also kind because he never thought of himself and gave things to people, without a thought for himself. This is seen when he gives the bread to the child. Both qualities are important.

The boy and the Drum has been written as a play. How is its structure different from that of other stories that you have read in previous class?

A play is written in a way that it can be enacted by people. The actors tell the story through the dialogue and actions of the characters. In a story, some dialogues occur in between the text. A story is either for reading or telling someone, and does not include different people enacting parts. In The Boy and the Drum, there are parts that are read by the narrator, and also parts that indicate directions for the actors on stage.
